When Will Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Be Released?

Have you seen the trailer for the new Avatar game?
If you enjoyed the original film from 2009, the long-awaited sequels will start coming to theatres from 2022.
The as of yet untitled film will see many of the original cast returning, (Sam Worthington as Jake Sully and Zoe Saldana as our favourite Na’vi, Neytiri) but when can we expect to dive back into Pandora for ourselves?
Let’s get into it.
The Game
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is promising to be an action-packed first-person, action-adventure game coming from Massive Entertainment which is a collaboration between Ubisoft studios, Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney.
The story seems to line up with the original 2009 game that released alongside the film for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo DS, and PC where you play as a Na’vi fighting back the tyrannical RDA organisation.
But whether you loved or hated the first game, don’t let that decide whether you will play this one. Current gen consoles have improved a lot from the Wii days and you can be assured that with this game releasing on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, Google Stadia, and Amazon Luna, this game is sure to pack some punch.
Notice how they aren’t currently planning to release on Nintendo Switch with the less intensive specs potentially being why. This game will be a much-improved experience from the first game.
In the trailer, we are introduced to some creatures and landscapes that are completely new and this is explained on the Ubisoft website as we will be exploring the previously unseen western frontier.
Learn the Na’vi traditions and culture and become one with the wildlife of Pandora to protect them from the RDA.
This promises to be a beautiful game visually and hopefully, they deliver on the action-packed content as well.
When Will It Be Released?
Well, honestly, we are not sure, but we can make an educated guess.
The fact that an Avatar game was on the way was public knowledge for a number of years now, but it wasn’t anticipated to come anywhere near this soon.
The initial trailer aired earlier this year at E3 and shocked fans who were not expecting to see anything this year. We also don’t have a set date for the Avatar 2 film and James Cameron seems to be keeping his cards close to his chest.
But we are not expecting either to come out in early 2022, our best guess places it in Fall 2022 and both being released very close together.
(Edit: Clearly even this estimate was too early.)
